Understanding the COVIDVu Study

Households across the country have been selected to take part in a research study to map COVID-19 in their communities. The study is being conducted by Emory University, one of the world’s leading research universities, with funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Understanding the COVIDVu Study

Households across the country have been selected to take part in a national research study to map COVID-19 in the U.S. The study is being conducted by Emory University, one of the world’s leading research universities, with funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

About the Study

The COVIDVu study will indicate how widespread COVID-19 is in your community and across the U.S., including identifying individuals who have had COVID-19 and didn’t know it. It is possible to have COVID-19 without showing symptoms. COVIDVu uses a representative sample of individuals from across the nation. This information is needed to guide efforts going forward, including efforts to return to normal life.

We ended baseline testing and are now onto follow-up rounds which will only be using one blood spot test and testing for antibodies in the cohort moving forward.

It is possible to have COVID-19 without showing symptoms.

WHAT IS MEASURED

Test for COVID-19 Antibodies
The test is for the selected study participant and must be completed by the person who completed the first test kit.
Blood Spot Tests

The test indicates the presence of COVID-19 antibodies. More specific information will be provided with your research test results.

STUDY OUTCOMES

Key Scientific Goals of the Research Study

Estimate Current Levels of COVID-19 in Your Community

Conduct a national survey to estimate the number of adults in the United States that have the virus that causes COVID-19, as well as detect the number of adults that have COVID-19 antibodies.

Improve Our Understanding of COVID-19 in the U.S.

Use national survey data on social distancing, occupation, family size and structure, health conditions, and symptom history to better understand what is related to current and past COVID-19 infection.

Monitor Future Levels of COVID-19 in Your Community

Conduct future survey rounds of testing in the next 3-6 months to monitor COVID-19’s continued impact on your community and across the U.S.
